Great Happening:

Finnish-American Heritage Association’s barn quilt installed

A fitting quilt for a fitting place. The log cabin home of the Finnish-American Heritage Association in Ashtabula Harbor has a new barn quilt that reinforces the city’s connection to Finland.

Gary Tabor, barn quilt artist, watches as the barn quilt is installed.

Installers for the quilt were Pete Forinash (back), Mike Brenneman (left) and Jeff Forinash.

The log cabin pattern quilt block was modified by artist Gary Tabor with the Finnish Flag. The 4-by-4-foot barn quilt was installed on Oct. 26, 2017.

Installers were Pete Forinash and Mike Brenneman, with assistance from Jeff Forinash.

The Ashtabula County Barn Quilt Trail now has more than 100 barn quilts on it at 98 locations. At least two more barn quilts will be installed on the trail in November 2017.
